DESIGNED
FOR ULTRA LOW-POWER MOBILE/PORTABLE SOLUTIONS
Smart power management for Extended Battery
Life
If battery life is important, then SM712 is the solution. The SM712
includes Silicon Motion¡¦s ReduceOn technology, which intelligently
monitors the application and optimizes the power necessary for that
particular application. This is possible because each functional
block and engine clock can be dynamically controlled to actively
reduce the overall power consumption.
In addition to supporting Standby and Suspend power savings modes,
the SM712 is fully ACPI compliant, meets the current PC Design Guide,
and meets WHQL certification requirements.
True Multi-Display
The SM712 supports one primary and one secondary display as well
as complete dual-display capability under Windows®95, Windows®98,
Windows®Me, Windows®2000, Windows®NT4.0, Windows®XP and Windows®CE
through Silicon Motion¡¦s API.
DualDigital allows two applications to operate at the same time
across two display devices ¡V all from a single chip. Under Windows9x
and NT, portions of the primary display can be zoomed up for display
on a secondary display device. This technology also allows simultaneous
display on a CRT and LCD at different resolutions and refresh rates
as well as for simultaneous display on interlaced TV.
In addition, the QuickRotate feature implemented in the SM712 allows
images on the screen to be quickly rotated to 90¢X, 180¢X, and 270¢X,
which is very useful in applications such as desktop publishing
and word processing.
Accelerated Video and TV Out Support
The SM712 playback acceleration provides hardware video support
for two windows with bi-linear scaling and YUV-RGB conversion.
The SM712 also includes flicker-filters and overscan/underscan
support to provide graphics and/or video display on a TV.
Range of Supported Interfaces
The SM712 supports PCI and AGP (frame based AGP1X) for today¡¦s popular
graphics buses. It also provides a Zoom Video Port to support input
from cameras or TV tuners and output to VCR.
The SM712 provides TFT and DSTN panel support for typical high-resolution
panels. It also provides enhanced DSTN display quality using its
64 color-shading engine.
Complete Software Support
Software support includes Windows®95, Windows®98, Windows®Me, Windows®2000,
Windows®NT 4.0, Windows®XP, Windows®CE and Linux.
